  1. Barbie Build n Style Luxury Mansion
    •  4+

The Luxury Mansion is part of the brand new MEGA Bloks Barbie line of construction sets. With the 301 pieces in this set, kids can build a beautiful dollhouse full of charming and playful details to inspire all kinds of imaginative, open-ended play. The grand entrance hall has a fabulous chandelier and working elevator. There is also a roof deck set up for a picnic, a full bathroom, a living room with flat-screen TV, a bedroom with canopy bed, and fully equipped kitchen. The set comes with Barbie and Teresa mini figures with extra outfits for mix and match fun.

The set also has removable rooms. Each of the rooms is built on a small base plate that can slide into the house. This is a great feature because sometimes it can be difficult for small fingers to reach into the small spaces of a dollhouse. Each of the rooms can be removed from the house base so that kids can play more easily inside the rooms. And the three sections of the house can be separated to make it easier for multiple kids to play together.

The Luxury Mansion can be combined with other MEGA Bloks Barbie sets. There are 19 mini fashion figures to collect, and each one can be dressed and styled to create dozens of looks.

    What It Is

Dinosaur action and adventure evolve into great play with the InterAction Roar 'N React Boris Tyrannosaurus Ultimate T-Rex. Nearly two-feet long, Boris is a fully articulated action figure, based on the character from the animated show Dinosaur Train. He says more than 70 dinosaur phrases and facts and includes several additional play features. Press his tail and his mouth begins chomping. Press his tongue, and he makes crunching sound effects. But watch out for his motion-activated stomping and his T-Rex-sized roar! What makes Boris really unique is built-in technology that allows him to recognize and interact with the other InterAction Figures in Learning Curve's Dinosaur Train line. (When put together, the figures will interact with one another, seeming to have a conversation.)

    Why It's Fun

Combining dinosaur and vehicle play with innovative technology, Learning Curve's Dinosaur Train line features exciting and innovative products that provide a variety of opportunities for imaginative play. The InterAction Roar 'N React Boris is the flagship in the line. It brings the animated TV show to life and allows kids to embark on their own dinosaur-themed adventures. Mostly, though, kids will enjoy the noises and the phrases and the ways in which they can interact with a pal whom they mostly see on TV.

    Who It's For

Young kids who are fans of Dinosaur Train are the ones who will get the most out of this toy.

    What to Be Aware of

Two AAA batteries are required and included with the toy, but it never hurts to have back-up batteries. You'll also need a screwdriver to open the battery compartment. Per the manufacturer's instructions, do not use rechargeable batteries.

  12. Bluetooth Porsche 911 Carrera
    •  8+

The Bluetooth Porsche 911 Carrera is designed to work with an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, this is a sleek replica that offers a great R/C driving experience for kids. Once you've purchased the Bluetooth Porsche 911 Carrera and taken it out of the box, go to the Apple App Store and search for "Silverlit Bluetooth". (This is slightly different than the title listed in the instructions with the model we got.) Then download the free app. The Bluetooth connection means you don't have to worry about a wi-fi connection, and you don't need a plug-in dongle like many iOS R/C cars. Simply open the settings on your device, select the Porsche 911 from Bluetooth, and you're ready to go.

Open the app and you'll find you have a lot of choices to customize your ride. The biggest choice is whether you want to drive using gesture or a joystick. In gesture mode, your screen looks like the driver's seat of a Porsche and moving your smart device drives the car. Joystick mode works like a more traditional R/C car. This is really a matter of personal taste, but we found that for learning to control the car, it might be easier to start in joystick mode. As you get more comfortable, move to the gesture mode.

There are some cool additional features, such as the ability to use headlights, turn signals, emergency flashers, and honk the horn. There are also car sound effects as you drive.
