2048 from Ketchapp is the app-based version of the popular online game. The rules are simple; just slide numbered tiles around a 4X4 grid to combine similar numbers. Every time two similar numbers are combined, or slid into each other, they create a new tile that is double the numbers on the two original tiles. For example, by sliding two #4 tiles together, you get a #8 tile. The object is to keep doing this until you create a tile with the number 2048. Each time you slide the tiles, a new tile pops up on the grid. When all the spaces on the grid are full, the game is over.
This is an easy game to play but incredibly hard to win, which is what makes it so much fun. You will find it hard to play just one game because it seems like you should be able to get to that 2048 tile. Several of us at TTPM are playing this game and the largest tile that we've been able to get to so far is 512.
The game is rated ages 4 and up on the iTunes store. The simple rules and easy game-play make this a game that casual gamers of all ages can play and enjoy.
Even if you don't make it to the 2048 tile, the game scores you for combinations and keeps track of your score. Your best score is constantly displayed and the game informs you of when you have beaten your best score. This gives you a secondary goal and keeps the game from getting frustrating.
