The Primary Science Metal Detector from Learning Resources is a toy metal detector for little detectives and treasure hunters. To use, you'll first need to calibrate the detector by turning the knob on and keep turning it until the indicator lights flash and there is a long beep. Then turn it back and you are ready to go. The next time you turn it on, it will start detecting metals. When a metal is detected, it will emit a beep and flash the lights.
The little metal detector is designed to register and detect multiple kinds of metals, from aluminum to keys to bolts and screws, and more.
This little metal detector encourages a lot of imaginative play and, with the warm weather moving in, it's sure to inspire more than a few treasure hunts at the beach or in your own backyard.
We did have trouble getting the detector to register some coins, even when placed right underneath the detector it, however we don't think this really impacts the imaginative, open-ended play this toy inspires.
The Primary Science Metal Detector from Learning Resources is for ages 3 and up.
Two AAA batteries are required but not included. You'll also need a small screwdriver to install them.
The detector works best when held within one to two inches of the detected object, so there won't be any serious deep sand treasure hunting with this detector.
