What It Is

The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Friends-Play & Explore is a new app that celebrates the 45th anniversary of the classic children's book. Kids can play and explore with The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Mister Seahorse, The Very Quiet Cricket, and other characters from Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, The Mixed-Up Chameleon, and 10 Little Rubber Ducks. The app introduces kids to healthy eating and presents fun facts about caterpillars, seahorses, chameleons, and other real-life animals through eight activities and games. Games include guiding the caterpillar toward healthy fruits, guiding Brown Bear around the forest maze to find her bear cub, growing The Tiny Seed into a flower, watch The Mixed-Up Chameleon change colors as kids help him gobble up bugs, and complete jigsaw puzzles of favorite characters. Kids earn badges for completing the puzzles and challenges, and parents can also reset the badge rewards to give kids a fresh start for playing again. The app comes with the option for turning on or off narration and music.

Is It Fun?

This app allows children to interact with favorite Eric Carle characters in new ways. StoryToys' 3-D technology and gentle animations bring the characters to life. While kids play, they also practice counting, sorting, and memory skills.

Who It’s For

The Very Hungry Caterpillar & Friends-Play & Explore is for ages 2-4.

Repeat Play

Young Eric Carle fans may enjoy returning to this app and reading it on their own as their reading skills progress. The option to reset the badges gives kids an incentive to come back and play again even after they've already completed the activities.
