What It Is

Brian thinks he is invisible. Nobody ever seems to notice him or think to include him in their groups, games or birthday parties. The illustrator graphically represents Brian's emotions and feelings of invisibility by featuring him in black-and-white, while the rest of the pictures are in color. When a new boy arrives in class, Brian is the first to make him feel welcome. They team up on a school project and Brian finds a way to shine, and becomes more integrated into the class. And, his black-and-white persona yields to a brilliant color.

Is It Fun?

At one time or another, many children feel they are invisible in the classroom. The Invisible Boy is a must-read for kids who are on the shy side. It's also a great book for helping more outgoing children understand what their shyer peers may experience. Discussion questions are featured in the back along with additional book suggestions for adults and kids.
