What It Is
A Picture Book of Daniel Boone tells his story from his Pennsylvania birth in 1734, through his death in 1820 at the age of 85. From the time Daniel was a young boy, he had a passion for hunting and exploration. As a teen, he would leave home for days at a time and return with enough meat to feed his large family for a week. As an adult, he explored the unsettled land outside of the 13 colonies. Despite obstacles such as weather and battles with the Shawnee Indians, Daniel persevered and established a settlement on what became Kentucky. When Kentucky became "too crowded," he moved his family again, this time to what would later become Missouri, where he lived out the remainder of his years.
Is It Fun?
Daniel Boone's story is fascinating and the authors have done a great job in telling it in a manner that is engaging for children and adults. The illustrations and story are also a fantastic way for kids to learn about the lifestyle and culture around the time of the American Revolution.
Who It’s For
