What It Is
Nancy B's Science Club aims to make science exciting for girls through science kits that include working tools in color schemes and designs along with science activities that appeal to girls. The Aquascope & Underwater Wonders Activity Journal lets kids explore the underwater world, from ponds, lakes, and oceans to swimming pools. This kit includes a telescoping underwater viewer with 5x magnification, a built-in LED flashlight, a built-in ruler, a thermometer strip, a soft rubber eye cup, and water-resistant housing. The 18-page activity journal prompts kids to explore a body of water and introduces them to some of the creatures and plants they might encounter. The journal includes space for drawing, attaching pictures, and answering questions.
Is It Fun?
Kids will love that this kit gives them their own functioning telescope for exploring just like a real scientist. The Aquascope works well, and the activity journal engages kids in scientific exploration and creative play while introducing scientific concepts in an age-appropriate way. This could be a fun beach activity, but the journal provides experiments that kids can do in the bathtub, so you don't have to make any special trips in order to use the kit.
Who It’s For
The Aquascope & Underwater Wonders Activity Journal is for ages 8 and up. Adult supervision is required.
What To Be Aware Of
Three AAA batteries are required but not included.
Even though this kit is designed for young girls, there is no pink. Instead, the color scheme is turquoise, black, and purple, which could also appeal to boys.
The Aquascope floats in water. Hold it firmly when placing it in water. If you let go, it will pop out of the water and may cause injury.
