What It Is
The My First Crayola Mess-Free Touch-Lights is a drawing tablet for preschoolers. The drawing surface is a gel-filled area that kids can draw on using their fingers or the enclosed easy-grip stylus. There are three ways to play with this. In the Anytime Mode, the unit is off, but kids can doodle without any lights or sound. In the Lights and Music Mode, kids can push the yellow button as they play to change the color and tune. There are six different built-in colors and tunes. In Lights Only Mode, kids can change the color with the push of a button, but no music plays. When drawing is done, swipe across the surface with the palm of your hand to redistribute the gel and start again.
The stylus is triangular, so it is easy to grip and gets kids accustomed to using the tripod grip for drawing and writing.
Is It Fun?
This is an ingenious and appealing creativity toy for your little ones. This is especially good for travel play. In addition to the fun and engagement of drawing, when you use your fingers, it feels a little like fingerpainting. Kids will develop fine-motor skills and enjoy the tactile stimulation of the activity. Adults will appreciate that it's totally mess-free.
Who It’s For
The My First Crayola Mess-Free Touch-Lights is for ages 2 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Three AA batteries are required but not included.
You'll want to be sure that kids use only their fingers or the stylus and no sharp objects, such as a traditional pencil or pen, that might mar or break the surface of the pad, though the drawing surface is pretty strong and stands up to fingernails, which is kind of neat for a different effect.
