What It Is
Mr. Potato Head Hot Potato Dash! Game delivers the fun of classic Hot Potato with a familiar character. The game comes with a soft electronic Mr. Potato Head timer that plays music and funny sounds while time runs down. The game also comes with 60 cards. There are two ways for two to six players to play this game.
The first way is classic Hot Potato. The player with the fewest cards at the end wins. All players stand or sit in a circle with the shuffled deck of cards in the middle. Start the Mr. Potato Head timer by squeezing him, then toss him gently between players. If you are holding Mr. Potato Head when the timer runs out, you lose the round and take a card from the draw pile. If the card says "STOP" on it, place it face up on one side of the draw pile. When four STOP cards have been drawn, the game is over. If you draw a Hot Potato! card, keep it in your own pile. Then start the Mr. Potato Head timer and play another round. When four STOP cards have been drawn, each player counts the cards they have, and the player with the least amount of cards wins.
The second way to play is Hot Potato Dash! The player with the most cards at the end of the game wins. In this game, you'll need to shuffle the household object cards into the deck. Players take turns drawing a card and acting accordingly. If you draw a STOP card, place it face up on one side of the draw pile. If you draw a household object card, place it face up on the other side of the draw pile. If you draw a Hot Potato! card, grab the Mr. Potato Head timer and run around the house to touch the timer to the objects shown on any face-up household object cards. Once time runs out, collect the cards for the household objects you successfully touched. Then it's the next player's turn, and play continues until a fourth STOP card is drawn.
Is It Fun?
This is the classic game of Hot Potato with a twist. We like that the second version of the game gets kids active and helps preschoolers identify common household objects, such as a chair, the front door, the sink, etc. And it really keeps all the players physically active because they'll have to run around with the player holding the timer to make sure that player touches the household objects.
