What It Is
Send kids on a geographic adventure without ever leaving the house with Little Passports. This subscription-based service introduces kids to new states and a new country each month with characters Sam and Sofia as kids' travel guides and a combination of activities kids receive by mail as well as online activities. Parents go to littlepassports.com to sign up and choose between one of two Little Passports packages: USA Edition or World Edition.
With the USA Edition, Sam and Sofia travel to and experience the wonders of all 50 states. To start, children will receive a Discovery Kit that includes a letter from Sam and Sofia, a USA Field Guide, a USA scratch book, a map, and a disposable camera. Each month after that, Sam and Sofia travel to two states and send an activity-packed travel journal with stickers, postcards, pop-out models, and access to online activities. For example, in the Nebraska/Florida kit, kids get to make a paper rocket and a paper windmill and complete 30 pages of activities that help kids understand more about each state, from languages spoken and famous people to state birds and local recipes.
With the World Edition, kids follow Sam and Sofia as they embark on a new country adventure. The first month's Explorer Kit arrives in a suitcase and contains a letter from Sam and Sofia, a world map, a pretend passport, stickers, activity sheet, worldwide boarding pass, and access to online games. Each month after that, kids receive country-specific packages filled with souvenirs, letters, stickers, photos, activity sheets, and more for 23 countries such as Japan. The Japan kit comes with a letter from Sam and Sofia, origami paper, a Japan boarding pass that provides access to online games, a sushi eraser, a photo of Sam and Sofia in-country, an activity sheet that introduces kids to elements of Japanese culture, and map stickers.
Is It Fun?
Little Passports is a fun, engaging, and kid-friendly way for kids to explore the world around them. Kids will enjoy opening up their kits each month to see what new and exciting adventures Sam and Sofia are taking them on.
Who It’s For
The USA Edition is recommended for kids 7–12. The World Edition is recommended for kids 5–10. While the Little Passports website is designed to be safe for children, it is always recommended that parents monitor their children's online activities.
What To Be Aware Of
There are many subscription options to choose from. The 3-month, 6-month and 12-month options require a one-time payment. So even though the 12-month option is $10.95 per month, you'll have to pay the full $131.40 upfront. If you prefer monthly billing, there is a Monthly Plan for $11.95 per month. With that plan, you can cancel at any time. Shipping costs extra and will vary depending on what subscription plan you choose.
For families with multiple children, families can order individual subscriptions for each sibling or share one subscription among siblings. When you subscribe and enter you child's shipping information, you can enter in multiple first names or a family name (i.e., The Brown Kids).
When you sign up for the USA Edition, you can travel to all 50 states over a 26-month period. For the first month, you receive the starter USA Discovery Kit. Every month thereafter, you'll travel to two new states for a total subscription length of 26 months. If you sign up for the World Edition, after you receive the starter Explorer Kit, there are 23 countries to explore for a total subscription length of 23 months.
Currently, Little Passports subscriptions are only available within the United States and Canada.
