What It Is
Dora & Team Umizoomi’s Fantastic Flight is a puzzle-solving adventure game for the Nintendo DS that features the characters from the two kid favorite Nickelodeon series - Dora The Explorer and Team Umizoomi. The game stars Dora and her pal, Boots along with the members of Team Umizoomi – Milli, Geo and Bot.
The puzzles in Fantastic Flight involve simple math, number and shape recognition and tracing lines. In one puzzle kids have to put the numbers in order from smallest to largest to advance. Another puzzle involves figuring out the pattern in a bridge and then choosing the right object to complete the bridge. There are also some puzzles that require kids to listen and then repeat a word into the DS’ microphone and others that require drawing shapes on the DS’ touch screen.
Is It Fun?
Kids are going to enjoy this game because of the characters. Fantastic Flight represents the first time that these characters have been together in a DS game and kids will love moving through the game and solving puzzles with them.
Kids will also love the sense of accomplishment they receive for solving each puzzle.
Who It’s For
This game is rated EC for Early Childhood and designed for pre-k and kindergarten aged gamers. There is no penalty for wrong answers but the game will encourage kids to try again until they get it right.
Among the age group mentioned above, Fantastic Flight is mainly going to be a hit with fans of the Nickelodeon shows.
What To Be Aware Of
The game’s look and animation is styled after both of the animated series so kids will instantly recognize their favorite characters and settings.
It will take the average pre-k and kindergarten aged gamers days to complete this game, which means they will probably return to it repeatedly just to play all the way through.
