What It Is

In Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 (Mattel's latest direct-to-DVD Barbie movie release), Barbie reprises her starring role as Merliah, a champion surfer from Malibu who is secretly a mermaid princess. Through her journey, she meets and befriends the Royal Mermaids, and together they set out on an adventure to save the ocean. Each Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 Royal Mermaid doll has a colorful bodice and tails that change color when submerged in icy water. (The color changes back with warm water.) There are five mermaids to choose from, each sold separately.

Is It Fun?

The Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 Royal Mermaids combine water play with Barbie doll play. Whether in the pool, bathtub, or out of the water, with the Mermaid dolls kids can recreate favorite moments from Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 or go on new underwater adventures.

Who It’s For

Barbie in a Mermaid Tale 2 Royal Mermaids are for ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

When using warm water to turn the doll's tail back to its original color, do not use water that is too hot (above 120 degrees) so you don't get burned.

The Royal Mermaid dolls do not have names. Instead, each is supposed to represent the oceans of the world. However none of the dolls are named after the oceans, which, if you need a refresher are Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and Southern (Antarctic). Instead, the dolls represent regions. For example, one doll is supposed to represent the Asian oceans, while another represents South American oceans. This is not communicated on the packaging.
