- Poker’s Wild! from Jax Games
- We recommend this product for ages 10 and up
What It Is
In Poker's Wild!, players try to create the best poker hand possible by playing their cards on the game board. The better your hand, the more points you score. The player with the most points wins.
Each player is dealt five cards, then two cards are placed face up on the game board in the starter spaces. The remaining cards are set aside as the draw deck. One player begins by placing any card from his hand face up next to any card on the game board, either side by side or end to end (not diagonally). If the player creates a "score", he marks the appropriate circle on his scorecard. A "score" is made when placing a card down on the game board creates a poker hand, such as one pair, two pair, three of a kind, and straight. Each poker hand is scored differently.
Once you play a card, it cannot be moved. After playing a card, that player draws a new card from the draw deck and his turn is over. Play continues in the same manner for each subsequent player. Play continues until all cards have been played and all the spaces on the game board are filled. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
There are two Wild cards in the deck. A Wild card can represent any card in order to create a poker hand. They can also represent a different card in subsequent plays for other players. There are also two Wild spaces on the board. When a card is played adjacent to a Wild space, that space can be used to represent any card in order to create a poker hand. Wild spaces can represent different cards for subsequent players.
The game comes with a game board, 54 playing cards, scorecards, and instructions. Poker's Wild! is for two to six players.
Is It Fun?
You don't need to know how to play Poker in order to play Poker's Wild, although you will need to know what cards make up the different poker hands. This is a very strategic game because players will need to be able to see potential scoring hands in four different directions from any potential card on the game board.
Who It’s For
Poker's Wild! is for ages 10 and up. Unlike the original game of Poker, there is no gambling, which makes this a great game for families and kids.
What To Be Aware Of
If you lay a card down, and you have more than one scorable hand from playing that card, the rules don't state if you can count all the potential hands or just one. This is something players will need to decide before playing.
