What It Is

Buck, Buck, Moose! is a fast-action, color-matching game. To begin playing, separate the Moose Slap cards into four piles by color. Place the four piles face up in the center of the playing area. Take turns dealing cards featuring Buck the Forest Ranger and his pal Marty Moose. As the cards are dealt, the dealer must say "Buck" when a Ranger Buck Dealer card is dealt and "moose" when a Moose Dealer card is dealt. If a Ranger Buck card is dealt, players don't do anything. If a colored Moose card is dealt, players race to slap the stack of Moose Slap cards with the matching color. The first player to slap the correct color card wins that card. The player with the most cards at the end of the game wins.

There are Lose a Moose and Win a Moose cards within the pile of Dealer Cards, causing whoever is dealt one of those cards to either give up one of their Slap Cards or take an extra Slap Card. If a player is dealt a Double Moose card, then whoever slaps the two correct Moose Slap cards first wins those cards.

The game comes with 46 dealer cards, 80 Moose slap cards (20 of each color), and a secret dealer card holder. Buck, Buck, Moose! is for three to six players.

Is It Fun?

Buck, Buck, Moose! is an easy-to-play card game for preschoolers. It's a game that requires kids to pay attention so that they can be the first to slap the right card stack and win cards. The game also comes with instructions on how to play an advanced version, making the game challenging to older players.

The pictures on the Moose Slap cards are really cute and engaging. They feature Marty Moose doing different activities, such as painting a picture, walking on the moon, or playing baseball. Kids will like pointing out the activities they are familiar with—and perhaps even engage in themselves—as they play the game and collect the cards.

Who It’s For

Buck, Buck, Moose! is for ages 4 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Buck, Buck, Moose! also comes with instructions on how to play Moose Match, a matching game that uses just the Moose Slap cards. Take one stack of the Moose Slap cards and place them facedown. Then take turns flipping over two cards to try and match all 10 Moose poses.
