What It Is

What It Is

LEGO has entered into a whole new way to play, capitalizing on the technology of the iPhone and the popularity of app-based play to develop a building and racing game called The Life of George. When you purchase The Life of George product, there are instructions on how to download the free app from the Apple store. Within the app game, there are two sections: The Life of George and My Life. In The Life of George section, touch one of the question marks to get a randomly generated model that you'll have to race against the clock to build. There are 12 levels and two difficulty settings. The model's complexity determines how much time you've got to build. Once it's done, place the model on the mat, position your iPod or iPhone above it, and press the camera button. The camera scans the model into the game, and you receive a score based on your time and accuracy. You can also create your own models in the My Life section. There's also a head-to-head race game that challenges players to get the best time building the same model.

There are 144 building pieces in the set, an optical mat, a Getting Started guide, and a George sticker.

Why It’s Fun

For LEGO fans or anyone who likes a good skill-and-action game, this a great addition to a LEGO collection. The game is very addictive, and the optical software that makes this work, which was developed by EyeCue for LEGO, is amazing. The models may look a little simple, but once you have the pressure of racing against the clock, you may find it a little more challenging.

Who It’s For

The Life of George is for ages 14 and up.

What to Be Aware of

The app works with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod Touch (4th generation). An internet connection is not required to use the app. The app is only in English.

The suggested age grading is 14+, but we found kids with a facility for LEGO building and who are able to use the iPod camera enjoyed it as well.
