What It Is
What It Is
From the makers of the popular Apples to Apples comes Faux • Cabulary, a game where players make up words to fit crazy definitions. Each round one player sits out and serves as the Wordmeister. The Wordmeister will pick a definition card, read it aloud to the group, and then players use wacky word parts to create new words to fit the definition. For example, a definition may be "The planet where old socks go." Possible made-up words could include "uberoidfuzz." Once the players have chosen their made-up word, they cover their word with the word cover and slide it over to the Wordmeister. This keeps the Wordmeister from knowing whose word belongs to whom. The Wordmeister will then read all the words aloud and choose the one that he thinks best fits the definition. If your word is picked, you get to keep the definition card. The first player to gain the required number of cards wins. (The required number of cards depends on how many people are playing the game.) Faux • Cabulary comes with 360 definitions, 21 word cubes, and six word covers. It is for three to seven players.
Why It’s Fun
This is one silly party game. Players get creative when coming up with their words, and it's always fun to see what people create with the word cubes they're given. It's an easy to game to learn and play, and each time you play will be different with new, wacky words being created.
Who It’s For
Faux • Cabulary is for ages 13 and up. There are some suggestive terms in this game.
What to Be Aware of
The key to playing Faux • Cabulary is to realize that the goal is not to have the "correct" word, but to tailor your wacky word to your Wordmeister so that your word gets picked. This means that all sorts of humor and outrageousness will ensue, which is what makes the game entertaining.
The gross-out nature of a lot of the humor is more likely to appeal to guys.
