What It Is

What It Is

LEGO Creator has introduced a collection of three-in-one building sets. The latest addition to the line is Lighthouse Island, a 518-piece model. With this set, kids can build a seafood restaurant, a boathouse, or a classic lighthouse. When kids build the lighthouse, they can press the roof to activate the special light brick and rotate the crank on the back to turn the reflector and cast light 360 degrees, just like a real lighthouse. When kids build the seafood restaurant, they can use the light brick to make the oven light up. Open the back of the lighthouse to access the stove and ladder. The set includes a minifigure, jetty with motorboat, the LEGO light brick, binoculars, stove, ladder, grill, two buildable seagulls, and two fish.

Why It’s Fun

As with all the LEGO Creator models, the detail and imagination that's gone into this set is really impressive, including the seagulls, boats, and the lighthouse that actually opens up. On the lighthouse model, the light brick and the crank on the back that turns the reflector is a relatively simple innovation, but it adds a great deal of imaginative magic to the set.

Who It’s For

Lighthouse Island is for ages 8—12.

What to Be Aware of

You can only build one model at a time. If you build the restaurant and then want to build the lighthouse, you'll have to disassemble the restaurant.

This model took us a couple of hours to assemble, but like the kids, we were really impressed with the results.

The light brick takes two button-cell batteries, which are included.
