- Tiles of Infinity from NeNe Imagination
- We recommend this product for ages 4 and up
What It Is
NeNe Imagination's Tiles of Infinity is an open-ended STEM puzzle that uses two shapes-kites and darts-kids can use to easily create unique patterns using the golden ratio. (The golden ratio is considered to be a perfect ratio, seen throughout nature in sea shells, in art such as in DaVinci's work, in architecture, and straight down to the shape of our DNA.) Each puzzle piece features a magnetic backing so the pieces can be used on any magnetic surface, such as a refrigerator or magnetic white board.
One secret to starting these puzzles is to always begin with five of the same shapes and join them together, such as darts to create a star or kites to create a pentagon. From there you can continue to rotate between the two shapes fitting them in the corresponding spots until you either run out of tiles or complete the design to your liking. There is a sample guide to help you get started making shapes.
Is It Fun?
Unlike a traditional jigsaw puzzle in which you are confined to a prescribed place to put each piece, we like the open-ended qualities of Tiles of Infinity. In addition, this puzzle promotes a lot of important skills in a fun way, such as creativity, spatial reasoning, sequencing, and problem solving.
