What It Is
The Transformers: Age of Extinction Construct-Bots Dinobot Warriors Autobot Drift and Roughneck Dino from Hasbro is a 61-piece set that lets kids build a poseable Autobot Drift action figure, convert it into a vehicle, build a poseable Roughneck Dino, then combine the two together to create a mega Dinobot Warrior. Illustrated instructions are also included. We suggest paying close attention to all the parts being used and reattached while working, especially with the smaller pieces. It can be easy to overlook the smaller connectors at times and while the Roughneck Dino build was easy to do, younger kids on the age spectrum will likely require assistance to build and convert the Autobot Drift. Some pieces can come apart easily during the conversions while there are others that a 6-year-old may find difficult to attach.
Is It Fun?
With so much building potential and repeat play value we were pretty excited to get our hands on this Construct-Bot, however we found the instructions to be a bit unclear at times and the conversion of Autobot Drift from bot to vehicle to be a bit frustrating. The ball connectors came apart at times when converting and the small black connectors sometimes stay attached to the wrong piece when reconstructing to build the Dinobot Warrior.
Once constructed though we think there is a lot of opportunity for roleplay with this set. With the Roughneck Dino, in particular, kids will have fun playing with the flick fire missions and acting out their own Transformers storylines.
