What It Is

The Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Avalanche Escape Set is a five-foot track set based on the Thomas DVD Tale of the Brave. The set comes with a battery-operated Thomas engine and cargo car that must navigate the risky mountaintop track. There are five action points on this track set. First, send Thomas through the cave to discover a hidden fossil. Then power through the barricade, watch out for the scrap monster, and climb the hill to soar across the gap in the tracks. Once you've cleared the gap, knock over the guardrails and do it all over again. Going back through the fossil cave will cause the gap feature to automatically reset. The other features kids will need to reset by hand.

This track set also includes two track adapters so that you can connect it to other TrackMaster tracks, sold separately.

Is It Fun?

Kids will love watching the action from the DVD movie play out in this large track set. But even if kids haven't seen the movie, they'll still love watching Thomas activate the different action points and make his brave journey over the gap in the train tracks.

Who It’s For

The Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Avalanche Escape Set is for Thomas fans ages 3-6.

What To Be Aware Of

We had some issues with our Thomas engine, especially when the cargo car was attached. On its own, Thomas moved pretty well around the track (with the exception of some curves from time to time) and pretty much always made it across the gap. But the cargo car seemed to cause Thomas to derail more often, especially when going across the gap, and move slower. In order to activate some of the features, you do need the cargo car, but the problems it causes is kind of frustrating.

It took us 30 minutes to assemble this track set, and the instructions were not always easy to follow.

Thomas requires two AAA batteries, which are not included.
