What It Is

The Hot Wheels Street Hawk Remote Control Flying Car from Mattel can be driven like a traditional R/C car or switched into flight mode for take off. Charge it up, which takes about 40 minutes. The lights turn from red to green when it's fully charged. Then switch on the plane and the controller, and they'll pair up automatically.

Drive it like a traditional R/C car with the selector switch in the car position or flight mode. Throttle forward, and the plane actually takes off and flies. In flight, its dual propellers spin more than 35,000 RPMs. The R/C has a range of about 200 feet and is powered by a 2.4 Gigahertz transmitter that will allow up to six vehicles to be operated together, so long as each is paired individually to a transmitter.

After years of trying out so-so flying toys, the seamless taxi and take off of this toy are a real thrill. The Street Hawk is an extraordinary feat of design and engineering that will make you the envy of the park or the neighborhood when you get it going. The learning curve on this toy is a fraction of what you'll find with other flying R/C vehicles, so you spend more time mastering stunts and just enjoying the thrill of flying.

What To Be Aware Of

It does take about 40 minutes for the initial charge, and you'll get 5-6 minutes of run time. When the vehicle starts to be a little sluggish or takes a little longer to take off, plug it in and charge it up, and you'll be back in business more quickly. You can charge up the R/C vehicle via the transmitter or USB.

Give yourself plenty of space. While the controls are very easy to use, especially compared to other R/C vehicles, this does need a lot of space to fly.

Six AA batteries are required and not included.
